StumbleUpon is one of the best traffic generators among the top seven social media sites, referring more than other social bookmarking and voting sites if you like.
As a blogger, managing all the different social media platforms canbe a challenge. Each works differently, requires different sized images, attracts different demographics, etc. It’s a time commitment to learneach one and discover how you can use it to drive traffic to your blog.
Start using StumbleUpon to get more Traffic
I didn’t start using StumbleUpon for my blog until about two monthsafter I started blogging. I had used it during college to find funny orinteresting articles, but hadn’t thought to use it for my blog. And that was a huge mistake! Once I started using StumbleUpon, I realized what a great traffic source it can be. I’ve experimented with it for almost ayear, and have been able to consistently drive traffic for the lastfour months. These days, it drives nearly as much traffic to my site asPinterest does! Today I’m sharing my secrets with you and talking abouthow to drive traffic to your blog with StumbleUpon.
Add Your Posts
Every day that you put up a new blog post, add it to StumbleUpon! Ifyou have social share buttons on your blog (such as Shareaholic), youcan add it on there. But I prefer to add my post directly on theStumbleUpon website. This allows you to choose the category your postwill go in and add tags. The image below shows the site where you canadd your post.
Like other social media platforms, engagement is important. It’simportant to engage with other posts on the site. On StumbleUpon, eachtime you hit the “Stumble” button, it brings you to a new page (blogposts, pictures, articles, shops, etc). For each page you can eithergive it a thumbs up or thumbs down. This will help drive traffic to thesites you liked, as well as tell StumbleUpon what kind of pages theyshould show you in the future.
Not only should you be “liking” pages, you should also be addingpages! When I find a blog post I like, I head to their social mediabuttons and add their post to StumbleUpon. Not only does this drivetraffic to other blogs that deserve it, StumbleUpon will send morepeople to your post when you’re sharing the love.
Here’s what I do everyday to ensure I’m getting the best results from StumbleUpon.
- First thing in the morning, I had my post for the day to StumbleUpon.
- Throughout the day, I add other blog post that I enjoy.
- In the evening, I Stumble for awhile, liking other posts.
- Between liking or adding other posts, I try to engage with at least 15 other posts. I find that sharing at least this many, StumbleUpon rewards me by sending more people to my post.
So there you have it! It takes only a few minutes each day to shareyour post and engage with others to drive traffic to your blog withStumbleUpon. Many bloggers haven’t discovered the power of the site yet, and I encourage everyone to try it!
