I had this problem when I first started exercising. I didn’t lower my caloric or fat intake much but I started doing crunches. This is the one that frustrates me the most. I have always beenvery thin and recently started gaining weight in my hips and thigharea. I welcomed the added pounds because it gave me a curvier figure. Unfortunately it also left we with a slightly flabby stomach.

3. The Large Number Myth
Twenty-five good, quality crunches are much better than 250half-done crunches. Many people just want to get it over with so theylie down and do as many fast crunches as they can while lacking inquality.
The best thing to do is perform 4 sets of 20-25 solid cruncheswhile resting 90 seconds in between each set. That is a much moreeffective way of training your abs than 250 lackluster crunches in arow.

4. You can eat whatever as long as you exercise: Myth
It’s all about balance. “You can’t out-exercise a bad diet, and you can’t out-diet a lack of exercise,” says Finkelstein. “Maintaining a healthy body is about leading a healthy lifestyle that is fed by real food and prioritizes physical activity.” Refer back to number three and remember: that includes room for indulging!
5. The 6 Pack Myth
We’d all love to have that solid six pack to show off when we’reat the pool right? Well, what most people don’t realize is that solidabs don’t start in the gym, they start in the kitchen. If your bodycontains a lot of fat, your abs won’t show no matter how much youexercise.
Your first goal should be to lose that fat, and it starts withyour diet. Decrease the amount of fat and calories you consume andincrease the amount of protein. Protein is an absolute necessity forridding fat and building muscle.
You can crunch all you want, but if you’re still consuming burgers and fries, you’ll end up with a six pack covered in fat.
6. The “Flatten Your Stomach Fast” Myth

7. Skipping meals is a great way to lose weight Myth
Eating less equals less calories, which equals weight loss, right? Even though that seems logical, that’s generally not how the human body works. “People who skip meals tend to feel hungrier later on and eat more than they normally would,” says Mashru. She recommends eating small meals throughout the day to keep your energy up, maintain stable blood sugar levels, and stay satiated so you don’t make impulsive food choices.
